Capricorni Pneumatica/IX TAB/Eighth Tower Records/2025 Album Re-Issue Review

  This  is  a  review  of  another  recording  from  Italy's  Capricorni  Pneumatica  which  shows  the  music  going  for  a  mixture  of  dark  ambient,  drone,  ritual  and  electronic  music  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  1987  album  "IX  TAB"  which  was  re-issued  in  2025  by  Eighth  Tower  Records.

  Ritualistic  percussion  and  electronic  drones  start  off  the  album  while  the  music  also  gets  very  experimental  at  times.  When  synths  are  utilized  they  also  add  in  elements  of  dark  ambient  along  with  each  song  also  sounding  very  different  from  each  other and  a  great  portion  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

  A  lot  of  the  music  is  also  done  in  a  very  improvised  style  while  most  of  the  album  sticks  to  an  instrumental  direction.  Electronic  music  sounds  also  also  used  quite  a  bit  throughout  the  album  along  with  some  songs  also  adding  in  more  of  a  repetitive  style  and  one  track  also  adds  in  a  brief  use  of  distorted  voices,  spoken  words  can  also  be  heard  briefly.

  On  this  recording  Capricorni  Pneumatica  takes  dark  ambient,  drone,  ritual  and  experimental  and  mixes  them  together  to  create  a  very diverse  album.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  while  the  song  themes  focus  on  Mayan  Mysteries,  Western/Medieval  Esotericism  and  Vampirism.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Capricorni  Pneumatica  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  dark  ambient,  drone,  ritual  and  experimental,  you  should  check  out  this  re-issue.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "I.A.O"  "Akhkharu"  "Khampa"  and  "La  Quattro  Porte".  8  out  of  10.
