Horrida Vultuum are a solo project from Brazil that has been featured before in this zine and plays a ritualistic form of black ambient and this is a review of his 2015 album "Vetus Malum" which was released by Ater Lunae Templi.
A very dark and evil ambient drone sound starts off the album and the music almost gets close to silence at times which also gives the recording more of an avant garde feeling and at times the songs bring in a small amount of tortured voices and most of the tracks are very long and epic in length.
Most of the time the music is very ritualistic and occult sounding and also adds in the atmosphere of black metal at times and distorted sounds can also be heard in certain sections of the recording and some tracks also bring in elements of harsh noise and grim black metal screams and as the album progresses synths start having more of a dominant impact on the music and the spoken word parts make the songs more ritualistic.
Horrida Vultuum creates another recording that is very ritualistic and occult sounding dark ambient and also mixes in black metal, noise and drone to create some very evil music and the production sounds very dark and raw.
In my opinion this is another great sounding album from Horrida Vultuum and if you are a fan of black ambient, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Orbis I" Orbis IV" "Orbis VII" and "Orbis IX. 8 out of 10.
