Moribond are an international duo with members from both Canada and the United States that plays a mixture of funeral doom and stoner metal a touch of black metal and this is a review of their 2011 demo "The Wild Ride" which was released by Depressive Illusions Records.
A very dark, heavy and melodic sound starts off the demo along with some death metal growls a few seconds later and elements of stoner metal can also be heard at times and the solos and leads also have a retro 70's vibe to them and black metal screams are also added into some parts of the songs.
While a lot of the riffing has a stoner vibe t he heaviness is more closer to funeral doom and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them while all 3 of the tracks stick to a very slow musical direction and the last track brings in clean guitars and psychedelic elements.
Moribond on this recording played a style of stoner/doom metal that also had a touch of black metal and funeral doom, the production sounds very dark and heavy while the lyrics cover dark themes.
In my opinion Moribond are a very great sounding mixture of stoner and funeral doom metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this duo. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Wheel Of Life". 8 out of 10.
