  Norway's  solo  project  Picture  Ann  has  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  a  mixture  of  dark  ambient,  experimental  rock  and  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2022  ep  "Those  Abundant  Ruins"  which  was  released  by  Floodgate  Moods  Productions.

  Programmed  beats  start  off  the  ep  along  with  some  clean  playing  a  few  seconds  alter  which  also  adds  in  elements  of  experimental  rock.  When  whispered  vocals  are  utilized  they  also  add  in  a  touch  of  black  metal  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  as  well  as  the  music  also  adding  in  ambient  style  synths  at  times  and  the  guitars  also  get  heavier  on  the  closing  song.

   This  is  a  review  of  a  track  from  Norway's  solo  project  Picture  Ann  which  shows  the  music  going  for  a  mixture  of  experimental  and  dark  ambient and  the  single  was  released  in  2022  by  Floodgate  moods  Productions  and  called  "A  Lonely  Moorland".

  Dark  soundscapes  start  off  the  album  while  clean  playing  can  also  be  heard  quite  a  bit  throughout  the  recording.  When  synths  are  utilized  they  also  bring  in  elements  of  ambient  along  with  a  great  portion  of  the  tracks  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs  also  bring  in  the  heaviness  of  doom  metal.

  Atmospheric  soundscapes  start  off  the  album  along  with  some  experimental  and  avant  garde  elements  a  few  seconds  later.  Both  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  At  times  the  music  also  gets  very  organic  and  lo-fi  sounding  and  programmed  beats  can  also  be  heard  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording.

  Clean  playing  and  acoustic  guitars  start  off  the  ep  and  on  the  second  track  ambient  style  synths  are  added  onto  the  recording  while  all  of  the  tracks  are  instrumental along with  a  few  tracks  being  short  in  length  and  elements  of  harsh  noise  can  also  be  heard  at  times while  all  of  the t racks  sound  very  different  from  each  other.

  On  this  recording  Picture  Ann  played  more  of  a  guitar orientated  form  of  dark ambient  while  also  keeping  everything  instrumental  as  well  as  being  very  experimental  at  times  and  the  production  sounds  very  dark.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Picture  Ann  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  dark  ambient  and  experimental  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Sketch  2"  and  "Sketch  4".  8  out  of 10.

Picture Ann/Katarsis/Floodgate Moods Productions/2017 EP Review

  This  is  a  review  of  another  recording  from  Denmark's  Picture  Ann  which  is  done  in  more  of  a  dungeon  synth  style  and  the  ep  is  called  "Katarsis"  and  was  released  by  Floodgate  Moods  Productions.

  Ambient  style  syths  start  off  the  ep  and  also  gives  the  music  an  ambient  feeling  along  with  some  touches  of  dungeon  synth  and  acoustic  guitars  are  also  added  onto  the  recording after  awhile and  all  3  of  the  tracks  are  instrumental  while  also  sounding  very  different  from  each  other  and  the  last  track  is  more  organic  and  experimental.

  On this  recording  Picture  Ann  plays  a  style  of  dungeon  synth  which  also  uses  acoustic  guitars which  also  adds  some  originality  to  the  genre  while  everything  remains  instrumental  and  the  production  sounds  very  dark.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  ep  from  Picture  Ann  and  if  you  are  a fan  of  dark  ambient,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED TRACK  "The  Speer Cathedral".  8  out  of  10.

Picture Ann/Blindness And Insight/Floodgate Moods Productions/2016 Single Review

  This  is  a  review  of  another  recording  from  Picture  Ann  which  continues  the  experimental  metal  style  of  previous  releases  with  this  single  being  called  "Blindness  And  Insight"  which  was  also  released  by  Floodgate  Moods  Productions.

  Acoustic  guitars  and  synths  start  off  the  single  and  after  awhile  electric  guitars  along  with  some  solos  and  leads  are  added  onto  the  recording  and  the  music  also  gets  very  experimental  at  times  and  on  the  second  track  programmed  beats  are  added  onto  the  recording  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  sound  very  powerful  and  the  whispers  on  the  second  song  have  a  black  metal  feeling.

  Picture  Ann  creates  another  recording  that  remains  true  to  the  experimental  style  of  previous  releases,  the  production  sounds  very  lo-fi while  the  music  focuses  on  dark  themes..

  In  my opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Picture  Ann  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  experimental  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  single.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Insight".  8  out  of  10.

Picture Ann/Blaspheme/Floodgate Moods Productions/2016 CD Re-issue Review

  This  is  a  review  of  an  older  album  from Denmark's  Picture  Ann  which  brought  in  a  dungeon  synth  style  with some  black  metal  elements  and  the  album  was  originally  released  in  2009  and  called  "Blaspheme"  which  will  be  re-issued  later  this  month  by  Floodgate  Moods  Productions.

  A  very  distorted  guitar  sound  along  with  some  ambient  style  synths  start  off  the  album  and  a  good  portion  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  some  songs  also  bring  in  a  small  amount  of  clean  playing  and  drones  and  all  of  the  tracks  sound  different  from  each  other.

  A  decent  amount of  black  metal  elements  can  be  heard  in  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  while  some  tracks  also  bring  in  a  small  amount  of grim  vocals  while  a  great  portion  of  the  songs  are  also  instrumental  and  when  guitar  leads  are  utilized they  are  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  and  they  also  bring  in  a  couple of  bonus  instrumental tracks  and  all  of  the  songs  stick  to  a  very  slow  musical  direction.

  On  this  recording  picture  Ann  played  more  of a  guitar  orientated  form  of  dungeon  synth  and  dark  ambient  while  also  mixing  in  a  decent  amount  of  black  metal  elements,  the  production  sounds  very  dark  yet  powerful  while  lyrics  when  they  are  utilized  focus  more  on  dark  themes..

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another great  sounding  recording  from  Picture  Ann  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  dark  ambient,  dungeon  synth  and  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  re-issue.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Hide  And  Seek  My  Dear"  "Fucking  Black  Again"  and  "No  One  X  Nothing".  8  out  of  10.
