Denmark's Picture Ann have returned with a new recording which continues the experimental, ambient and metal mixture from previous releases and this is a review of their 2019 album "Strange Forces" which was released by Floodgate Moods Productions.
Atmospheric soundscapes start off the album along with some experimental and avant garde elements a few seconds later. Both of the tracks are very long and epic in length At times the music also gets very organic and lo-fi sounding and programmed beats can also be heard in certain sections of the recording.
Acoustic guitars are also brought some parts of the music along with some ambient style synths also being utilized at times. When electric guitars are utilized they add elements of metal into the songs as well as adding in a small amount of leads while spoken word parts are also added into certain sections of the album and all of the music sticks to a slower direction.
On this recording Picture Ann adds some more avant garde elements into their mixture of experimental, dark ambient and metal. The production sounds very dark while the lyrics are inspired by Bram Stoker's novel "The Lair Of The White Worm".
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Picture and if you are a fan of experimental, dark ambient and metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Strange Blood". 8 out of 10.
