Order 1968 are a solo project from Italy that plays a mixture of ritual, industrial and dark ambient and this is a review of his 1991 album "Tears in The Snow" which will be re-issued on cassette May 18, 2019 by AnnapurnA.
Field recordings and bell sounds start off the album along with some ambient style synths a few seconds later. Experimental and avant garde elements are also added into some parts of the recording while the music also gets very ritualistic sounding at times and some of the tracks are very long and epic in length.
At times the music also adds in more of an underground and dark style of industrial while most of the tracks are instrumentals. A lot of the tracks also utilize a good amount of programmed beats along with one song also introducing distorted spoken word parts into the music and some of the beats also gives the songs more of a shamanistic atmosphere.
All of the tracks sound very different from each other and as the album progresses atmospheric sounding drones can also be heard in certain sections of the recording along with the music also capturing a cinematic atmosphere, radio sounds can also be heard on a later track as well as the synths also bringing in a variety of many different sounding keys and the production sounds very dark.
In my opinion Oder 1968 are a very great sounding mixture of ritual, industrial and dark ambient and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo project. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Sturm" "The Runes" "Nocturne" and "Buried Blades". 8 out of 10.
