Sandor Valy and Julia Heeger are a duo from Hungary that plays a mixture of opera,, experimental and avant garde and this is a review of their 2019 album "Sacred Songs - Hildegard Von Bingen Variations" which was released by Ektro.
Dark sounding synths start off the album while all 3 of the tracks are very long and epic in length. At times the music also gets very experimental and avant garde sounding while distorted noises can also be heard in some parts of the recording as well as the synths also using a variety of many different sounding keys.
Operatic female vocals are also utilized quite a bit throughout the recording while the music at times also captures a medieval atmosphere. Electronic sounds are also mixed into a lot of sections of the 3 tracks as well as all 3 of the songs sounding very different from each other and guitar noises are also added into certain sections of the recording.
Sandor Valy and Julia Heeger team up together to create a recording that takes opera, avant garde and experimental music and mixes them together to create a sound of t heir own. The production sounds very dark while the lyrics are written by Hildegard Von Bingen and cover mysticism, neo-Platonism, Paganism, Gnosticism and Early Christianity.
In my opinion Sandor Valy and Julia Heeger are a very great sounding mixture of opera, avant garde and experimental music and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this duo. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Tu Suavissima Virga". 8 out of 10.
