ZVI are a solo project from New York with a member from Psalm Zero that plays a mixture of experimental, avant garde, psychedelic and drone and this is a review of his 2019 album "Deer Pink" which was released by Nefarious Industries.
Slide guitars start off the album while heavy riffs are also brought into the music at times while also bring in more of an improv atmosphere. Clean vocals and psychedelic elements are also added into some parts of the songs as well as a great amount of programmed beats also being used throughout the recording.
Most of the tracks are very long and epic in length while atmospheric sounding drones are also a very huge part of all the songs. Cinematic soundscapes can also be heard in certain sections of the recording as well as the tracks also adding in a great amount of synths and at times the music gets very avant garde and experimental sounding.
Elements of pop music are also brought into most of the tracks while all of the songs sound different from each other as well as all of the tracks sticking to a slower musical direction along with some minimalism touches being used at times. The production sounds very dark while the lyrics cover dark themes.
In my opinion ZVI are a very great sounding mixture of experimental, avant garde, psychedelic and drone and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo project. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Kettle Dreams" and "Handcramps". 8 out of 10.
