This is a review of another recording from Norway's solo project Picture Ann which shows the music going for a mixture of experimental, lo-fi ambient and doom metal and this is a review of his 2021 ep "This Vessel Was never Chosen" which was released in 2021 by Floodgate Moods Productions.
Clean playing and programmed beats start off the ep along with some ambient style synths while the music also gets very experimental sounding at times. Bass guitars can also be heard on a couple of tracks as well as most of the tracks being instrumental.
When electric guitars are utilized they also add in some melodies and elements of doom metal while the vocals bring in a mixture of whispers and grim black metal screams when they are utilized and the whole recording also sticks to a slower musical direction along with some melodic guitar leads also being added on the closing track.
On this recording Picture Ann takes ambient black, doom metal and experimental and mixes them together to create a very diverse sounding recording. The production sounds very lo-0fi while the songs themes focuses on dark topics.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Picture Ann and if you are a f an of experimental, lo-fi ambient, black and doom metal, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Anna Liked Dying Places" and "Horrid King". 8 out of 10.
