Hadewych are a band from the Netherlands that has had music reviewed before in this zine and on this recording plays a mixture of black ambient, industrial, avant garde, experimental and ritual and this is a review of their album "Mes" which will be released in 2022 by Tartarus Records.
Dark ambient style soundscapes and synths start off the album while the tortured screams in the background also add in touches of black metal, When spoken word parts are utilized they also give the music more of a ritualistic feeling along with some programmed beats also being utilized at times.
Heavy guitar and bass riffs can also be heard briefly while elements of industrial can also be heard at times. The music also has its experimental and avant garde moments along with one song also adding in a brief use of acoustic guitars along with most of the tracks also being very long and epic in length and all of the songs also sound very different from each other, choirs can also be heard on the closing track.
On this recording Hadewych takes black metal, ambient, industrial, ritual, experimental and avant garde and mixes them together to create a very diverse sounding recording. The production sounds very dark while the lyrics cover occultism, esoteric, existentialism and death themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Hadewych and if you are a fan of black metal, ambient, industrial, ritual, avant garde and experimental, you should check out t his album. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Het Ware Nader (Final Forest)". 8 out of 10.
