This is a review of a split album between Greece's Raabi Meerkat and Bellerophone called "Human Potential" which was released by Submersion Records and we will start off the review with Raabi Meerkat a solo project that plays a mixture of avant garde and experimental.
His side of the split starts out with some dark soundscapes before adding in some programmed beats and synths. At times the music also gets very avant garde sounding along with the music also adding in a great amount of electronic music elements as well as the songs also having their experimental moments. All of the tracks also sound very different from each other, one song also adds in a brief use of spoken word samples while the production also sounds very dark.
In my opinion Raabi Meerkat is a very great sounding mixture of avant garde and experimental and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo project. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Christmas in China" and "55 Seconds To Annihilation".
Next up is Bellerophone a solo project that plays a mixture of experimental, field recordings, ambient and drone.
His side of the split starts out with some field recordings along with some drones and ambient style synths a few seconds later. The track is also over 23 minutes in length and as the song progresses the music also starts getting more diverse sounding as well some spoken word samples also being utilized briefly while the production sounds very dark.
In my opinion Bellerophone is a very great sounding mixture of field recordings, experimental, ambient and drone and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo project.
In conclusion I feel this is a very great sounding split and I would recommend it to all fans of avant garde, experimental, field recording, ambient and drone. 8 out of 10.
