Dead Space Chamber Music are a band from the United Kingdom that plays a mixture of avant garde, dark medieval, neo-folk, ritual, ambient and doom metal and and this is a review of their 2021 album "The black Hours" which was released by Avon Terror Corps.
Avant garde style soundscapes start off the album while the stringed instruments also add in elements of neo-folk. Militant style percussion and drum beats can also be heard in some parts of the recording along with the electric guitars bringing in influences of doom metal into certain sections of the album.
At times the music also captures a very medieval style while some songs also bring in a good amount of female vocals. Clean playing can also be heard at times along with some tracks also adding in some ambient style soundscapes as well as certain sections of the album also having its ritualistic moments and they also add in a good amount of instrumentals.
A couple of the tracks are also very long and epic in length along with each song also sounding very different from each other as well as one track also introducing acoustic guitars onto the album, melodies can also be heard in some of the heavier riffing. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover the medieval illuminated manuscript "The Black Hours".
In my opinion Dead Space Chamber Music are a very great sounding mixture of avant garde, experimental, dark medieval, neo-folk, ritual, ambient and doom metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Bryd One Brere (Bird On A Briar)" and "The Pit _Dissolved Into Ashes". 8 out of 10.
