This is a review of a split album between Greece's Slow Bicycle and United Kingdom's Fane called "Lonely Shore" which was released by Submersion Records and we will start off the review with Slow Bicycle a solo project that plays a mixture of ambient and minimalism.
His side of the split starts out with some folk instruments before adding in some synths which also bring in elements of electronic and ambient. When programmed beats are utilized they also give the songs more of a minimalist touch along with some cinematic sounding drones also being utilized and most of the tracks are also instrumentals except for the closing track which also adds in a brief use of female vocals while each song also sounds very different from each other and the production sounds very dark.
In my opinion Slow Bicycle are a very great sounding mixture of ambient, electronic music and minimalism and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should c heck out this solo project. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Blows And New Beginnings".
Next up is Fane a solo project that plays a gnostic mixture of ambient and drone.
His side of the split starts out with ambient style drones along with some programmed beats a few seconds later. Synths and elements of electronic music can also be heard quite a bit throughout his side of the split as well as the second track also sounding very different from the first song and also being over 17 minutes in length, all of the music is instrumental while the production sounds very dark.
In my opinion Fane is a very great sounding mixture of ambient and drone and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo project. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Global Re-Emergence Blues".
In conclusion I feel this is a very great sounding split and I would recommend it to all fans of ambient, drone, minimalism and electronic music. 8 out of 10.
