This is a review of a split album between Arizona's Funerary and Italy's Ooze which will be released in August by Midnight Collective and we will start off the review with Funerary a band that has been featured before in this zine and plays a mixture of sludge and funeral doom metal.
There side of the split starts out with a very dark sound that is very very melodic and starts to get heavier with each second along with some drum beats and elements of sludge and when high pitched screams and growls are added into the music they give the songs a touch of black and death metal and both of their tracks are very long and epic in length and also bring in depressive melodies at times and both of the songs stick to a very slow and heavy musical direction, the production sounds very dark and heavy while the lyrics cover dark and depressive themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Funerary and if you are a fan of sludge and funeral doom metal, you should check out their side of the split. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Ascent".
Next up is Ooze a band that plays a very dakr and heavy form of sludge metal.
Their side of the split starts out with a southern influenced style of sludge metal along with some high pitched screams a few seconds later and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and there are also a small amount of parts where the music speeds up and adds in blast beats along with the energy of punk and when guitar leads are utilized they are in a dark and melodic musical direction, the production sounds very dark and heavy while the lyrics cover dark, depressive and occultism themes.
In my opinion Ooze are a very great sounding sludge metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out their side of the split. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Targeted" and "Satanachia's Will".
In conclusion I feel this is a very great sounding split and I would recommend it to all fans of sludge and funeral doom metal. 8 out of 10.
