Svartsinn are a solo project from Norway that has been featured before in this zine and plays dark ambient and this is a review of his 2017 album "Morkets Variabler" which will be released on Halloween by Cyclic Law.
Ambient style synths start off the album along with some elements of drone and soundscape while the music also gets very experimental at times along with most of the music being instrumental and spoken word parts along with some whispers are also utilized briefly on a track.
At times the music has an avant garde touch and as the album progresses cello's are added onto the recording along with most of the tracks sounding very different from each other as well as mixing in some Nietzsche and Loevecraft concepts and on some tracks the music gets very ritualistic.
Svartsinn creates another recording that remains true to the dark ambient style of previous releases while also mixing in a decent amount of drone and ritual music elements and the production sounds very dark.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Svartsinn and if you are a fan of dark ambient, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Doubt As Sin (Nietzsche's Lament)" "In The Wake Of Azathoth(A Lovecraftian Epilgue)" and "Vemod (Cello Mix)". 8 out of 10.
