Boghaunter are a band from New Hampshire that plays a musical of sludge and funeral doom metal and this is a review of their 2018 ep "Writhe" which will be released in My by Seeing Red Records.
Acoustic guitar playing starts off the ep and after awhile the music starts going into a heavier doom metal direction while the vocals are mostly sludge sounding screams along with a touch of black metal and a few growls while the guitar leads are done in a very dark and melodic fashion and also adds in elements of funeral doom.
Both of the tracks are very long and epic and length along with some elements of atmospheric and post metal also being used at times along with some clean vocals also being used briefly as well as some drone and ambient soundscapes also being used at times and the music always sticks to a very slow direction and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them, synths can also be heard at times and acoustic guitars are also used on both of the tracks and the second song also adds in spoken word samples.
Boghaunter plays a musical style that takes the sludge, funeral and atmospheric sides of doom metal and mixes them together to create a sound of their own, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover dark themes.
In my opinion Boghaunter are a very great sounding and original funeral doom metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Constellation". 8 out of 10.
