This is a review of a split album between Russia's Who Dies In Siberian Slush and Finland's My Shameful called "The Symmetry of Grief" which was released in 2014 by Moscow Funeral League Records and we will start off the review with Who Dies In Siberian Slush a band that plays a mixture of funeral doom and death metal.
Their side of the split starts off with a very dark and atmospheric ambient sound along with some heavy guitar riffs and melodic leads that are also a huge part of both of the songs along with some folk instruments that take the music into more of a funeral doom metal direction along with some death metal growls a few seconds later that are also very guttural while the second song brings in a small amount of high pitched screams and both of their tracks are close to 10 minutes and length and they both stick to a very slow and dark musical direction along with a very powerful sounding production and lyrics that cover Siberian Nature, Alcohol and Depression.
In my opinion Who Dies In Siberian Slush are a very great sounding mixture of funeral doom and death metal and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACK "And It Will Pass".
Next up is My Shameful a band that plays funeral doom/death metal.
Their side of the split starts off with a very slow, dark and melodic funeral doom sound along with some death metal growls and after awhile ambient elements are added into certain sections of their songs which are also very atmospheric as well as both being very long and epic in length and the band always remains true to a very slow, dark yet heavy musical direction and the production sounds very dark and heavy while the lyrics cover sorrow, death and doom.
In my opinion My Shameful are a very great sounding funeral doom metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out their side of the split. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Downwards".
In conclusion I feel this is a very great sounding split and I would recommend it to all fans of funeral doom metal. 8/5 out of 10.
