Nebula VII are a solo project from Russia that has been featured before in this zine and plays a mixture of experimental, drone and dark ambient with a touch of doom metal and this is a review of his 2012 ep "False Light" which was released as a joint effort between Satanath Records, Dead Dog Skull, and Heil Hell Productions.
A very dark and distorted drone sound starts off the ep along with some elements of ambient and programmed beats and you can also hear demonic voices in the music which also adds in a touch of black metal as well as having a couple of tracks that are very long and epic in length and when the music speeds up a small amount of blast beats can be heard.
Synths have a very dominating presence on the recording giving the songs more of an atmospheric feeling and the music also brings in the heaviness of doom metal at times and the music at times also brings in elements of space ambient and all of the songs sound very different from each other.
Nebula VII played a musical on this recording that was still mostly in an experimental style of dark ambient and drone while the influence of depressive black metal and doom can also be heard in the music, the production sounds very dark and raw while the song themes focus around dark and depressive themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Nebula VII and if you are a fan of dark ambient and drone, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Visions Of hatred" and "Convulsions". 8 out of 10.
