Ba'al are a band from the United Kingdom that plays a mixture of post, sludge and doom metal with some touches of black metal and this is a review of their 2017 ep "In Gallows By Mass" which was released by APF Records.
Clean guitars start off the ep and also bring in elements of post rock along with some melodic guitar leads and clean vocals a few seconds later while all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and after awhile sludge style screams are added onto the recording.
All 3 of the tracks are very long and epic in length while the screams also add in a touch of black metal and when the music speeds up a small amount of blast beats can be heard along with the slower sections of the songs being very heavily influenced by doom metal and the main focus is more on a slow musical style.
Ba'al plays a musical style that is mostly rooted in sludge, doom and post metal while elements of black metal are utilized at times, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover dark themes.
In my opinion Ba'al are a very great sounding mixture of sludge, doom and post metal with some black metal touches and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Days of Yore". 8 out of 10.
