Antichrist are a band from Peru that plays funeral doom/death metal and this is a review of their 2018 album "Pax Moriendi" which was released by Iron Bonehead Productions.
Atmospheric sounding synths start off the album which also mixes in with the heavier funeral doom metal riffing while the vocals are mostly deep death metal growls along with the music being very heavily rooted in the 90's and all of the musical instruments on the recording have a very powerful sound to them.
Most of the tracks are very long and epic in length while spoken word parts also gives the songs a more ritualistic feeling and some of the riffs also bring in a small amount of dark sounding melodies and when the music speeds up blast beats can be heard and as the album progresses a brief use of black metal screams and clean guitars can also be heard.
Antichrist plays a style of funeral doom/death metal that is very heavily rooted in the 90'd tradition, the production sounds very dark and old school while the lyrics cover dark and melancholic themes..
In my opinion Antichrist are a very great sounding funeral doom/death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Forgotten In Nameless Suffering" and "You'll Never See Sunlight". 8 out of 10.
