Abyssic are a band from Norway that plays a symphonic form of funeral doom metal with some elements of prog and black metal and this is a review of their 201 album "High The Memory" which will be released on February22nd by Osmose Productions.
Symphonic sounds start off the album and they also mix in with the heavier sections of the songs at times along with the slower sections of the music being very heavily rooted in funeral doom metal while the screams add in a touch of black metal as well as a great amount of death metal growls.
All of the tracks are very long and epic in length while the music also brings in a great amount of prog elements along with the guitar solos and leads being done in a very melodic style as well as one track also introducing acoustic guitars onto the recording and as the album progresses a brief use of whispered vocals can also be heard and the closing track the music also speeds up briefly and also introduces blast beats onto the recording.
Abyssic plays a style of funeral doom/death metal that is very symphonic sounding while also adding in some elements of prog and black metal, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover death, darkness, feelings and occultism themes.
In my opinion Abyssic are a very great sounding symphonic funeral doom/death metal band with some prog and black metal elements and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "High The Memory" and "Where my Pain Lives". 8/5 out of 10.
