Drontheim are a band from Norway that consists of some musicians that play in some very well known Norwegian black and extreme metal bands and with this band plays a mixture of industrial, alternative metal, post rock, cinematic and atmospheric music and this is a review of their 2019 album "Down Below" which will be released on February 22nd by Wraith Productions.
Dark yet melodic riffing starts off the album along with some drum beats while the clean vocals add in a touch of goth rock. All of the musical instruments on the recording have a very powerful sound to them as well as the music also adding in a great amount of metal elements and some of the tracks are long and epic in length.
At times the music also gets very atmospheric sounding while clean guitars are also used quite a bit throughout the recording and also adds in elements of post rock. Some of the tracks also add in a small amount of keyboards as well as the songs also mixing in influences of alternative rock.
Most of the tracks sounds very different from each other along with some spoken word parts also being added into certain sections of the recording while an instrumental is also added onto the recording as the album progresses. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover an alternate reality regarding World War II.
In my opinion Drontheim are a very great sounding mixture of industrial, alternative metal, post rock, cinematic and atmospheric music and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Dark Passage" "House Of Horus" and "Fathom". 8 out of 10.
