This is a review of a split album between Italy's Bathory Legion and Germany's Hermann Kopp called "Das Unheimliche" which was released by Septenary Arts and we will start off the review with Bathory Legion who returns with an occult mixture of experimental and ambient.
His side of the split starts out with spoken word samples and radio sounds while the synths also being in elements of ambient. Experimental and avant garde soundscapes are also a very huge part of his side of the recording along with the music also adding in a good amount of programmed beats as well as some synths also being added into his side of the recording and the second track is his own take on a Hermann Kupp song. The production sounds very dark and the song themes deal with the more esoteric, sinister and psychological points of view.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Bathory Legion and if you are a fan of ambient and experimental, you should check out his side of the split. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Kahko".
Next up is Hermann Kopp a solo project that plays a mixture of experimental, avant garde and ambient.
His side of the split starts out with some avant garde orientated soundscapes and programmed beats. At times his music also gets very experimental and atmospheric sounding while the organs also add in touches of ambient and also give the music more of a classic horror movie atmosphere as well as some spoken word parts also being utilized briefly and th e production sounds very dark.
In my opinion Hermann Kopp is a very great sounding mixture of avant garde, experimental and ambient and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo project. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Scapinella".
In conclusion I feel this is a very great sounding split and I would recommend it to all fans of avant garde, experimental and ambient. 8 out of 10.
