Australia's solo project Kollaps has returned with a new recording which shows the music going for a mixture of post industrial and harsh noise and this is a review of his 2022 album "Until The Day I Die" which was released by Cold Spring Records.
Harsh noises and power electronics start off the album while also introducing synths and elements of industrial onto the recording. Tortured voices can also be heard at times along with some spoken word parts also being utilized quite a bit throughout the recording and programmed drum b eats are also added on all of the songs.
Clear vocals can also be heard briefly while aggressive shouts and demonic voices can also be heard at times. Field recordings and home made instruments are also utilized quite a bit throughout the album along with one of the tracks also being very long and epic in length and each song also sounds very different from each other, acoustic guitars and clear vocals can also b e heard briefly and also adds in a touch of neo-folk.
On this recording Kallaps brings in a mixture of filed recordings, post industrial and harsh noise which is also very different from his previous releases. The production sounds very dark while the lyrics cover condemnation, redemption violence, romanticism, sexuality, addiction and the writings of William S Burroughs
In my opinion this is another great sounding album from Kollaps and if you are a fan of post industrial and harsh noise, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRQACKS INCLUDE "Relapse Theater" "Hate Is Forever" and "Iron Sight halo". 8 out of 10.
