Beyond The Morninglight are a band from Norway that plays a psychedelic form of gloomy rock and this is a review of their 2014 ep "Lifelines" which was released by WormHoleDeath Records.
A very dark drone soundscape starts off the ep along with some acoustic guitar s a few seconds later which also a psychedelic musical direction and when vocals are added onto the recording they bring a 60's folk rock feeling to the bands musical style as well as bringing in a very old school organ sound.
You can hear a great amount of melletron's throughout the recording and they also take the more modern neo-folk sound and mixes it with their retro 60's style approach as well as bringing in some influences from Pink Floyd in the melodic electric guitar leads and the band also has a bit of a Black Sabbath influence in the bass guitars and the metal influence has a very powerful sounding presence on the last track.
Beyond The Morninglight takes the 60's and 70's style of psychedelic and folk rock and mixes it with goth rock and neo-folk to create a dark and doomy form of gloom rock, the production has a very dark and powerful sound while the lyrics cover dark, poetic and pot smoking themes.
In my opinion Beyond The Morninglight are a very great sounding psychedelic gloom rock project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "A Moment In Time" and "You Twisted Angel". 8 out of 10.
