Shikabala are a musical project from Portugal that plays a very experimental and harsh form of noise and this is a review of their 2014 ep "Calor do Deserto" which was released by Sirona Records.
A very harsh sounding noise sound starts off the ep along with some brutal power electronics and the music is very primitive in sound and after awhile the noises get more diverse as well as having a song that is 10 minutes in length and all 3 of the tracks are instrumental.
On the second track the music starts incorporating more ambient drones and minimal noises while style having a very harsh sound to them and the music also brings a very experimental approach to this musical genre.
Shikabala creates a very diverse style of harsh noise that experiments a little bit with ambient drones and minimalism while also keeping everything in a raw, primitive and brutal musical direction as well as staying away from traditional musical instruments and making all 3 tracks instrumental and the production sounds very raw, dark, primitive and brutal.
In my opinion Shikabala are a very great sounding harsh noise project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Dizola". 8 out of 10.
