Belaqua Shua is a solo artist from Italy that plays a mixture of dark drone, avant folk and free form experimental and this is a review of his 2015 album "Where Is Everybody Else" which was released by Triple Moon Records.
A very dark and atmospheric ambient sound starts of the album before adding in electro acoustic guitars and violins and the music also brings in a great amount of avant garde, neo classical and drone elements which also makes the sound s more experimental and original and after awhile spoken word parts can be heard in some parts of the songs.
At times the music can be very ritualistic and the music gets more diverse with each track and all of the songs sound very different from each other and there are also some male and female vocals being utilized at times which also gives the recording more of a neo folk feeling and as the album progresses more folk instruments find their way into certain sections of the recording along with other tracks also mixing in a small amount of drones.
Belaqua Shua takes a variety of many different genres from drone, ambient, avant garde, neo folk and drone to create a sound of his own, the production sounds very dark yet powerful at the same time while the lyrics are written in a mixture of Italian and English and cover dark themes.
In my opinion Belaqua Shua are a very great sounding mixture of dark drone, avant folk and free form experimental , you should check out this solo project. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "My Water, My Fire" "Where Is Everybody Else" and Shipwreck In A Dream". 8 out of 10.
