Father Murphy are a duo from Italy that has been featured before in this zine and plays an occult form of psychedelic pop music and this is a review of their 2015 ep "Lamentations" which will be released in November by backwards.
Percussion beats start off the ep and they also have a militant feeling to them and after a couple of minutes clean singing vocals are added onto the recording and they also have an occult style of chanting feeling to them which also leads to saxophones and female vocals being added onto the recording.
Both of the tracks are very long and epic in length and the second track starts out with noises before adding in drones and avant garde sounds and after a couple of minutes stringed instruments find their way into the song and halfway through the track male and female vocals make their presence known and they add a very ritualistic style of singing and towards the end heavy guitars make their presence known.
Father Murphy continue the psychedelic occult pop rock sound of previous recordings while also getting more dark and avant garde as well as adding another dimension to their sound, the production sounds very dark yet powerful at the same time while the lyrics cover metaphysical and philosophical themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Father Murphy and if you are a fan of occult themes psychedelic avant garde pop music, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Lamentations". 8 out of 10.
