Un are a band from Seattle, Washington that plays a mixture of funeral doom and post metal and this is a review of their 2015 album "The Tomb Of All Things" which will be rleeased in December by Black Bow Records.
A very dark and atmospheric ambient sound starts off the album along with some drones and clean playing a few seconds later and after the intro the music starts getting a lot more heavy and goes into a funeral doom metal direction and after awhile deep death metal growls start becoming a very huge part of most of the songs.
Most of the tracks are very long and epic in length and you can also hear some depressive sounding melodies in some of the guitar riffing and the solos and leads also remain true to a very dark and melodic musical direction and when clean playing is utilized they give the songs more of a post rock feeling and regular singing can also be heard at times and the whole album also sticks to mostly a very slow musical direction and there is also a brief use of black metal screams and spoken word parts at times and on the last track the music speeds up briefly and also utilizes a few seconds of blast beats.
Un plays a musical style that takes funeral doom and 90's atmospheric doom/death metal and mixes it with modern post metal to create a sound of their own, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover melancholic themes.
In my opinion Un are a very great sounding mixture of funeral doom and post metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Forgotten Path" and "The Tomb Of All Things". 8 out of 10.
