Plateau Sigma are a band from Italy that has been featured before in this zine and plays funeral doom/death metal and this is a review of their 2016 album "Rituals" which was released by Avantgarde Music.
Nature sounds, laughter, and clean playing starts off the album and after the intro the music goes into more of a heavy and atmospheric funeral doom metal direction while also mixing in clean parts into certain sections of the songs and the vocals start out in more of a melodic style while you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording.
Spoken word parts can be heard in the music at times and acoustic guitars and melodic guitar leads could be heard quite a bit throughout the recording and they also give the songs more of a progressive feeling and a great portion of the tracks are very long and epic in length and as the album progresses death metal growls start making their presence known in the music and some songs also bring in a very ritualistic feeling and all of the songs stick to a very slow musical direction.
Plateau Sigma plays a musical style that is still rooted in the funeral doom metal style of previous recordings while also getting more experimental, avant garde and progressive this time around, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Greek/Roman Paganism.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Plateau Sigma and if you are a fan of funeral doom metal or avant garde music, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The bridge And The Abyss" and "Rituals I". 8 out of 10.
