Nathanael Larochette is a solo artist from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada that plays a mixture of neo classical, neo folk, post rock and dark ambient and this is a review of his 2016 double album "Earth And Sky" which will be released on July 29th.
Classical guitar playing starts off the album along with a great amount of finger picking while also bringing in a great amount of full chords and all of the music is instrumental while some of the tracks are very long and epic in length and the whole entire first disc is done entirely on classical guitars with no other instruments being utilized and there is also a touch of neo folk.
Nathanael Larochette creates a double album that sounds like 2 different recordings with the first disc being all classical guitar pieces while the second disc is in the more ambient and post rock direction while all being instrumental and the production sounds very professional for being a self released recording.
On the second disc the track is over 40 minutes in length and starts out with field recordings and ambient soundscapes and the music is also all instrumental and after awhile drones are added into the music and when guitars are utilized they are more distorted yet clean at the same time and also give the songs elements of post rock and synths can also be heard at times.
In my opinion Nathanael Larochette is a very great sounding mixture of neo classical, neo folk, post rock and dark ambient and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo artist. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Awaken" "Invocation" and "Sky". 8 out of 10.
