This is a review of a split album between Italy's Wear And Tear and Thanatos which was released by Aggressive Productions in 2012 and we will start off the review with Wear And Tear which plays dark ambient/drone.
Synths are very atmospheric and dark ambient sounding with the songs being very long and epic in length, while the sound effects bring in the drone, experimental and noise elements.
Vocals and songwriting are all absent from their side of the recording with the music being all instrumental, while the song themes revolve around darkness, as for the production it has a very dark, raw and primitive sound to it, in addition there is a brief use of guitars on the last song that gives the music a depressive black metal feeling.
In my Wear And Tear are a very great sounding dark ambient/drone project and if you are a fan of this style, you should check out their music. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Hidden In The Dark". RECOMMENDED.
Next up is Thanatos a 1 man project that plays a more experiemental form of dark ambient/drone.
Drum programming gives the music a more upbeat feeling, while the synths bring a very experimental dark ambient drone sound to the music, as for the sound effects they are very avant garde sounding with the songs not being either too short or long in length.
Vocals and songwriting are all absent from their side of the recording with the music being all instrumental, while the song concepts cover Lovecraft themes, as for the production it has a very dark, raw and primitive sound.
In my opinion Thanatos are a very great sounding experimental dark ambient/drone project with the best music on this recording and if you are a fan of this style, you should check out their music. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Beyond The Wall Of Sleep" and "The Blind And Idiot God's Dancing". RECOMMENDED.
In conclusion this is a very great sounding split and I would recommend it to all fans of experimental dark ambient/drone. RECOMMENDED BUY.
