IVII are a solo project from the Netherlands that plays a science fiction themed form of ambient and this a review of his 2015 album "Colony" which will be released in September by Consouling Sounds.
Experimental sounds and drones start off the album along with some atmospheric and ambient elements and most of the tracks are very long and epic in length and after awhile the music gets more diverse and you can also hear a touch of krautrock in some parts of the songs and the music also uses a great amount of synths.
All of the music is instrumental and static sounds can also be heard in certain sections of the recording along with some drum beats and spoken word samples and the sound effects also bring a science fiction atmosphere to the recording while some parts also bring in atmospheric black metal elements which are done by keyboards.
IVII plays a style of ambient that is very atmospheric and also brings in a great amount soundscapes and experimental elements to create a very diverse recording and the production also has a very professional sound to it.
In my opinion IVII are a very great sounding science fiction orientated ambient project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Signals From Home" "Black Galaxy" and "Shaping Itself From Dust". 8 out of 10.
