Of Darkness are a band from Spain that plays a mixture of neo classical and funeral doom metal and this is a review of t heir 2015 album "Tribute To Krzsztof Penderecki - Passio Et Mord Domini Nostri Jesu Christi Secundum Lucam" which was released by Gradual Hate Records.
Classical music sounds start off the start off the album and the music start to go into more of a heavy funerla doom metal direction long with soem growing vocals and after awhile spoken word parts, emlodic cgants, male and female opera choirs are added into the music and the classical and heavy parts also start to be mixed together.
Both of the tracks are very long and epic in length and the music at times also brings in grim black metal screams and you can also hear elements of avant garde and neo classical in the bands musical style and some of t he riffs also bring in a small amount of melody at times and the opera and spoken word parts also gives the music more of a ritualistic feeling and the whole album sticks to a very slow and dark musical direction.
Of Darkness plays a musical style that takes death and funeral doom metal and mixes it in with neo-classical to create a sound of their own, the production sound s very dark and heavy while the lyrics cover Gnosticism themes.
In my opinion Of Darkness are a very great sounding mixture of neo classical and funeral doom metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACK "
