Jonne are a solo project from Finland that has the singer of Korpikaani and plays a minimalistic and raw form of shamanistic folk music and this is a review of his self titled 2015 album which was released by Massacre Records.
a very ritualistic folk music sound starts off the album along with both spoken word parts and clean singing and after awhile female vocals are added into certain sections of the recording and the music brings in a good amount of violins and acoustic guitars and the songs also bring in a great amount of shamanistic chanting.
Some of the tracks bring in more of a traditional folk music feeling and at times the vocals bring in an aggression that is very close to black metal and all of the tracks also have a medieval atmosphere to them and all of the songs also stick to more of a slow, ritualistic and traditional style of Finnish folk music.
Jonne plays a style of folk music that is very raw, shamanistic and tribal sounding, the production sounds very powerful while the lyrics are written in their native tongue and cover Finnish Shamanism themes.
In my opinion Jonne are a very great sounding shamanistic folk music project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Viuluni Laulua Soutaa" "Kuku Kaki" "Leppayon Loyly" and "The Boxer". 8 out of 10.
