The Rodeo Engine Idiot are a band from France that has been featured before in this zine and plays a mixture of hardcore and noise rock with a touch of black metal and this is a review of their 2013 album "Consequences" which was released by Throatruiner Records.
A very distorted sound starts off the album along with some guitar rififng that leads to a faster musical direction that utilizes a great amount of blast beats and high pitched screams that mix and black metal and screamo together while the slower sections are very heavily influenced by both noise rock and post hardcore.
A lot of the riffs are melodic and throughout the recording there is a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them while most of the tracks are very short in length except for a few songs that are 5 or more minutes longer and as the album progresses some of the vocals start using more melodies and there are also a few tracks that bring in a small amount of clean playing.
The Rodeo Idiot Engine creates another album that remains true to their blackened mixture of post hardcore and noise rock while also adding in more melody this time around, the production sounds very dark and heavy while the lyrics cover dark and angry themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from The Rodeo Idiot Engine and if you are a fan of black metal. post hardcore and noise rock, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Life Sentence" "Masks" "Frozen Hearts" and "Behind The Scars". 8 out of 10.
