Oldd Wvrms are a band that plays a mixture of doom, sludge and death metal along with a touch of black metal and this is a review of their self released 2015 ep "Not".
Spoken word samples start off the ep and a few seconds later the music starts getting more dark, heavy and melodic along with some aggressive screams as well as a touch of melodic post metal and the music is mostly rooted in sludge and doom metal while black metal screams and clean singing can also be heard at times.
All of the musical instruments on the recording have a very powerful sound to them while most of the tracks are very long and epic in length and some songs also bring in a small amount of clean playing and as the ep progresses death metal growls can be heard at times and the whole ep remains true to a slow yet dark musical direction and one track also brings in a brief sue of guitar leads while the last song brings in more of a ritualistic and occult atmosphere.
Oldd Wvrms plays a musical style that is mostly rooted in a modern and melodic style of sludge and doom metal and mixes it in with t he heaviness and black and death metal to create a style of their own, the production sounds very dark and heavy while the lyrics cover Occultism, Witchcraft and Rituals.
In my opinion Oldd Wvrms are a very great sounding mixture of doom, sludge and death metal with a touch of black metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Corrosive" and "She Stands behind". 8 out of 10.
