Tyranny are a band from Finland that plays funeral doom metal and this is a review of their 2015 album "Aeons In Tectonic Interment" which was released by Dark Descent Records.
A very dark ambient and avant garde sound starts off the album along with a heavy bass guitar kicking in which leads up to more of a heavy and atmospheric funeral doom metal sound that also introduces guttural death metal growls onto the recording and distorted yet melodic guitar leads are are a very huge part of the recording.
Most of the tracks are very long and epic in length and synths could be heard quite a bit in the background and the vocals also get very grim at times and as the album progresses melodic chants and spoken word parts can be heard in certain sections of the recording which also gives the music more of a ritualistic feeling and one of the later tracks brings in screams that also add elements of black metal into the bands musical style and all of the songs remain true to a very slow musical direction.
Tyranny plays a style of funeral doom metal that is very slow, dark and heavy while also mixing in atmospheric and ritualistic elements which also makes their music stand out a bit more, the production sounds very dark and heavy while the lyrics cover end time visions, extinction, disease and Lovecraft themes.
In my opinion Tyranny are a very great sounding funeral doom metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Sunless Deluxe" and "The Stygian Enclave". 8 out of 10.
