Grande Loge are a duo from France that plays a a ritualistic mixture of ambient, martial and neo folk and this is a review of their 2020 album "Mantras" which was released by Cyclic Law.
Ritualistic soundscapes start off the album along with some ethnic style instruments and ambient style synths a few seconds later. Most of the tracks are also very long and epic in length along with the music also sounding very tribal and shamanistic sounding at times along with some throat singing being added into some parts of the recording.
Folk music instruments can also be heard quite a bit throughout the album while clean vocals are also added into some parts of the songs. The tracks also add in a decent amount of chants and mantras along with some stringed instruments also being added into certain sections of the recording, when drums and percussion are utilized they also enhance the ritualistic side of the music and martial elements can also be heard at times as well as each song also sounding very different from each other
Grande Loge plays a musical style that takes ritual, ethnic, ambient, neo folk and martial and mixes them together to create a sound of their own. The production sounds very dark while the lyrics cover Persian, Roman, Greek Paganism, Rituals and Chaos Magick themes.
In my opinion Grande Loge are a very great sounding mixture of ritual, ethnic, ambient, neo folk and martial and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this duo. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Mithra Invictus""Aecroto" and "Hierophantes". 8 out of 10.
