Jagath are a solo project from Russia that plays a mixture of ambient, industrial and ritual and this is a review of his 2020 album "Devalaya" which was released by Cold Spring.
Ambient style synths start off the album while also utilizing a variety of many different sounding keys along with all of the tracks being very long and epic in length. Ethnic style instruments can also be heard in some parts of the recording along with the music also adding in a great amount of ritualistic soundscapes.
Home made instruments and industrial elements can also be heard in some parts of the recording while the songs also add in a great amount of programmed beats. At times the music also captures the atmosphere of a horror movie soundtrack along with some throat singing also being utilized in some parts of the recording as well as all of the tracks also sounding very different from each other, one of the songs also introduces whispered voices into the music.
Jagath plays a musical style that takes ambient, industrial and ritual and mixes them together to create a sound of his own as well as keeping most of the music instrumental while the production sounds very dark.
In my opinion Jagath is a very great sounding mixture of dark ambient, ritual and industrial and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo project. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Agadha" and "Devalaya". 8 out of 10.
