Lament Cityscape are a duo from Wyoming that has had music reviewed before in this zine and on this recording plays a mixture of avant noise, ambient, post punk, industrial, sludge and post metal and this is a review of their self released 2020 ep "The Old Wet".
Ambient style soundscapes and synths start off the ep while also adding in a variety of many different sounding keys while also mixing in with the heavier sections of the songs add times. Vocals are done in mostly a shouting industrial metal style along with the slower riffs also adding in the heaviness of sludge metal.
Programmed beats are also a very huge part of the recording while the guitar leads are also done in a very distorted style. The music also mixes elements of both the post styles of metal and punk along with each track also sounding very different from each other and the music also adds in some touches of avant noise, all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them as well as some clean vocals also being utilized briefly.
On this recording Lament Cityscape takes the industrial, post and sludge metal styles of metal and mixes it with ambient and post punk to create a sound of their own. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover dark themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Lament Cityscape and if you are a fan of avant noise, ambient, post punk, industrial, sludge and post metal, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Among The Dead". 8 out of 10.
