This is a review of an older recording from Switzerland's Hostile Surgery which shows the music going for a mixture of noise, dark ambient, industrial and experimental and the album was released in 2022 by Kalamine Records and called "The Measure Of Madness".
Experimental soundscapes start off the album while the synths which also add in a variety of many different sounding keys also bring in elements of dark ambient, All of the tracks are also very long and epic in length along with all of the music also being improvised and a lot of songs stick to an instrumental direction.
Electronic beats are also utilized quite a bit throughout the recording while noises are also added into certain sections of the album. All of the songs also sound very different from each other along with some tracks also adding in some very distorted electronic sounds, at times the music also brings in a nightmare orientated atmosphere
On this recording Hostile Surgery takes noise, dark ambient, industrial and experimental and mixes them together to create a very diverse release. The production sounds very dark while the themes are a concept album revolving around revolving around madness with some inspirations from the writings of C.G Jung.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Hostile Surgery and if you are a fan of noise, dark ambient, industrial and experimental, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Obsession" "Compulsion" "Twitch" and "Excoriation". 8 out of 10.
