P.U.M.A are a duo from Italy that has been featured before in this zine and on this recording plays a mixture of dark ambient, post industrial and electro-noise and this is a review of their 2024 ep "Red Winter" which was released by Reverse Alignment.
Dark sounding drones start off the ep along with some voice samples before adding in some noises and electronic music sounds. A lot of the beats are also programmed and adds in a touch of industrial while the synths also bring in elements of dark ambient and at times concrete music sounds are also added onto the recording.
A lot of the music also brings in a very sci-fi orientated atmosphere while spoken words are also utilized at times. A lot of the recording also sounds very improvised along with all of the songs also sounding very different from each other as well as a couple of tracks also being very long and epic in length.
On this recording P.U.M.A takes dark ambient, drone, electro-noise and post industrial and mixes them together to create a very diverse release. The production sounds very dark while the song themes focus on science fiction and isolation.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from P.U.M.A and if you are a fan of dark ambient, drone, post industrial and electro-noise, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "When" "Into The Presence" and "La Voyage". 8 out of 10.
