SELM are a music project from Belgium that plays a mixture of noise, techno, industrial and ritual and this is a review of their 2025 album 'dehNUNG" which will be released in June by Cyclic Law.
Techno style beats start off the album while the music also adds in a lot of electro-industrial elements. All of the drum beats are also programmed along with some noises also being utilized quite a bit throughout the recording as well as the recording capturing a minimalist atmosphere and most of the tracks are also instrumentals.
At times the music also gets very ritualistic sounding while each song also sounds very different from each other. A lot of the recording capture a 90's club atmosphere as well as being very modern at the same time , voices and spoken words can also be heard briefly and the album also adds in a lot of rhythmic structures and the last 2 tracks are also very long and epic in length.
SELM plays a musical style that takes noise, techno, industrial, ritual and minimalism and mixes them together to create something different for the electronic music genres while the production sounds very dark.
In my opinion SELM are a very great sounding mixture of noise, techno, industrial, ritual and minimalism and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this project. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Infnt 03" "CdMCn8th" and "NranSz". 8 out of 10.
