A Stick And A Stone are a band with embers from Pennsylvania and Arizona that plays a mixture of noise, drone, minimalism, experimental, ambient and folk and this is a review of their 2025 album "Conspire" which will be released on June 27th as a joint effort between Fiadh Productions and Mutual Aid Records.
Field recordings start off the album along with some ambient style synths a few seconds later while the vocals being in more of a folk music style. Stringed instruments and harp's are also utilized at times as well as some tracks also adding in some spoken words and the recording also has its experimental moments.
Atmospheric sounding drones are also utilized quite a bit throughout the recording while some of the songs also capturing more of a minimalistic atmosphere. Noises are also added into certain sections of the album along with some tracks also showing the music also capturing more of a ritualistic vibe as well as adding in some tribal orientated percussion.
A Stick And A Stone plays a musical style that takes noise, drone, minimalism experimental, ambient and folk and mixes them together to create a sound of their own. The production sounds very dark while the lyrics cover war, climate, plague and gendered violence.
In my opinion A Stick And A Stone are a very great sounding mixture of noise, drone, minimalism, ambient and folk and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Birds Are Spiraling Backwords" "Carving Out A Doorway" "Kill Him" and "Red Planet". 8 out of 10.
