Modelbau is a solo artist from the Netherlands that plays a mixture of ambient, drone and minimalism and this is a review of his 2025 album "Time Lapse" which was released by Momentarily Records.
Electronic sounding drones start off the album while the music also adds in a lot of atmospheric ambient elements. Both of the tracks are also more then 20 minutes in length along with the recording also getting very minimalist sounding at times as well as the songs also sticking to an instrumental direction.
After staying in a repetitive direction for a few minutes the music also starts getting more diverse and adds in different sounds All of the music also sounds improvised while the second track also brings in a different style from the first song.
Modelbau plays a musical style that takes ambient, drone and minimalism to create something very atmospheric sounding as well as keeping everything instrumental while the production sounds very dark and lo-fi.
In my opinion Modelbau is a very great sounding mixture of ambient, drone and minimalism and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo project. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Dead man's Eyes". 8 out of 10.
