In'Sect are a duo from Minnesota that plays a mixture of drone, improv and dark ambient and this is a review of their 2020 album "How Much Does It Matter To The Stars" which was released by Pale Noise Media.
Atmospheric sounding drones start off the album while a great portion of the tracks are also very long and epic in length. At times the music also captures the atmosphere of a black and white movie soundtrack and all of the tracks are instrumental as well as utilizing a great amount of synths.
Elements of dark ambient can also be heard quite a bit throughout the recording while the synths also add in a variety of many different sounding keys. All of the tracks also sound very different from each other along with all of the music also being done in an improv style as well as the music also having its distorted moments, classical music influences can also be heard at times and as the album progresses there is also a brief use of field recordings and guitar sounds.
In'Sect plays a musical style that takes drone, improv and dark ambient and mixes them together to create a sound of their own while also keeping everything instrumental and the production also sounds very dark.
In my opinion In'Sect are a very great sounding mixture of drone, improv and dark ambient and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this duo. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Retrospective Advancement" and "End of Era 1". 8 out of 10.
