Kalmo are a solo project from Finland that plays an old school form of doom metal with some death and black metal influences and this is a review of his self released 2019 ep "Demoni".
A very dark and heavy sound starts off the ep while the solos and leads are also done in a very melodic style. Elements of doom metal can also be heard in the slower sections of the songs along with the vocals being done in a very grim style that is very close to black metal but with a first wave touch.
The music also brings in a great amount of 80's and 90's influences while still maintaining a very modern atmosphere. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very dark yet old school style along with all of the musical instruments on the recording having a very powerful sound to them as well as a couple of the tracks also being very long and epic in length and all of the music also sticks to a slower direction.
Kalmo plays a style of doom emtal that is very slow, heavy and traditional sounding while also adding in some old school death and black metal elements to create a sound of this own. The production sounds very dark and heavy while the lyrics are written in Finnish and cover Satanism, Occultism and Darkness themes.
In my opinion Kalmo are a very great sounding old school doom metal solo project with some black and death metal influences and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Piru" and "Show me Your Face".8 out of 10.
