1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?
I had this idea from a long time, while i was still playing in a folk band called Eterna Saudade. Then some issues caused my exited from that band, along with singer Filipa and keyboardist Sofia. Nuno is still in that band. Early still but already i could see this big potential in composition. So the invitation came very easily . This happened about in July '17. In fact while we were in the band he show me a song and then as the Eterna Saudade main composer, was not very opened with other compositions except him, i said to Nuno "I this song could be a good start to other project i have in mind". So that song borned with the name Luz no Horizinte. We didn´t used that in the recording, but we play it ive and in the future it will be in some format!
2.Recently you have released a new album, can you tell us a little bit more about the musical style you went for on the recording?
The style is a bit of Folk, Ambient, some of Fado and some metal like Tiamat, Anathema, but we are a non-metal, despite Metal being our main influence.
3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band exp;ores on the new album?
This is a more with our singer Fllipa, but i think its very personal and based with our Hills of Sintra. And they are in portuguese and some latin bits. Maybe we will use more languages in the future, like mirandish and maybe Galichian. We intend to use only languages related with our portuguese culture.
4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Magnolia'?
First name was Meme de Mort, but then we thought having a name that symbolized the Woods of Sintra, and Magnolia is its mainly and origin flower.
5.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the album cover?
Its a very basic photo of somewhere in the Forrest of Sintra. We wanted to caused some obscured feeling.
6.What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and also how would you describe your stage performance?
So far, we played... 1, lol. But at least was a some kind of special place around the village of Sintra. But now have some FNAC schedule shows next month of February. I can say that the shows are very emotional!
7.Do you have any touring or show plans for the new album?
As mentioned in the last question we have that shows marked and we intended to play in some emblematic rooms and we would like Castles, carnivals or Churches. We are searching more for real special places and maybe night of bonfire serenades.
8.The album was released on 'Fat Sounds Productions', can you tell us a little bit more about this label?
Well, i already have Cavemaster and Projekt Noir with its owner, Mario Rodrigues, He also played briefly with Eterna Saudade and always had some curiosity to produce this style.
9.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of folk and metal?
Its a bit of mixed feeling, because we are some kind in the middle. Some liked a lot, and some say like "This is different, this is like a new border to Fado" and you know what, that is really want we wanted to hear! But i think we can say its been a positive reaction.
9.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?
I think we will dive a bit more deeply in Fado, in Portugal there is a very know band and also worldwided, its called Madredeus. We like a lot, in fact we play a cover from them sometimes and we will surely recorded also. We will have for sure also more Funeral Doom beats. Maybe we will create the Fadoom style!
10.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
Madredeus, Tiamat, Candlemass, Anathema and Portuguese folk. Mainly its this we hear in our stuff,
11.Does Paganism play any role in your music?
Yes, you could here and see that in out video "Magia in Cynthia".
12.What are some of your non musical interests?
Family, walking by the woods of Sintra, cinema, religion.. We are very ordinary people.
