Clovvder are a duo from Uruguay that has had music reviewed before in this zine and on this recording plays a mixture of dark ambient, drone, noise and industrial and this is a review of their 2020 album "Montevidead" which will be released on cassette on September 22nd by Breathe Plastic.
Field recordings start off the album along with some atmospheric sounding drones a few seconds later. When synths are added onto the recording they bring elements of dark ambient into the music while one of the tracks also introduces spoken word parts onto the recording.
Noises are also added into some parts of the music while also getting very harsh sounding at times. The spoken word parts also enhance the ritualistic atmosphere of the songs along with the tracks also adding in some programmed beats and industrial elements as well as some percussion also being added into certain sections of the album, all of the tracks also sound very different from each and a couple later song also introduces whispered and clean female vocals into the music.
On this recording Clovvder takes dark ambient, drone, noise, industrial, field recordings and ritual music and mixes them together to create a sound of their song. The production sounds very dark along with the tracks being recorded live while the lyrics cover Occultism themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Clovvder and if you are a fan of dark ambient, drone, noise, industrial, ritual and field recordings, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "93" and "My Mother Was The Moon". 8 out of 10.
